RDF hires Granada America’s vice president

RDF Media Group is delighted to announce the appointment of Charles Tremayne as a Group Creative Director joining RDF from the position of Executive Vice President at Granada America, where since 2002 he has overseen all programming and production for Granada on the East Coast, in addition to creating shows like The First 48 for A&E and Room Raiders for MTV. 

Tremayne will be based out of RDF USA 's New York office and report into Stephen Lambert, Chief Creative Officer of RDF Media Group. He will work with Lambert's Group Development team, Wendy Roth, the executive producer of Wife Swap produced out of RDF's New York office, and Greg Goldman, executive producer and head of development for the LA Office, to expand RDF's business with East Coast buyers.  

“We wanted to find someone with real talent who has strong relationships with all the East Coast buyers and knew how to operate with several development teams at once,” says Lambert. “We're delighted that Charles has agreed to come on board as he has the track record that proves he can do this extremely well. He will be a brilliant link between the UK content companies and the US .”

During Tremayne's time at Granada America , the New York production office has been responsible for hundreds of hours of programming for American cable channels, including series like Dallas SWAT (A&E), Sensing Murder (Discovery), Airline (A&E), Taking Care of Business (TLC), House of Dreams (A&E), Dinner Takes All (TLC), Decoding Disaster (Discovery Times) and Bought and Sold (HGTV).

He was elected a Fellow of The Royal Television Society in 1999, and as executive producer has won Emmys, BAFTA and Royal Television Society Awards.

Tremayne moved to New York in 2000 to manage the new joint venture between Granada and The New York Times. The joint venture was responsible for programming and series for numerous outlets, including Nova and Frontline on PBS .

Prior to that, Tremayne lived in the UK , where he worked for Granada for more than fifteen years, including as the Controller of Factual Programs in 1996.
