RDF's new consumer products division closes its first deals
12th October 2004

RDF's new consumer products division has closed its first deals for independent producer clients within just 5 months of being in business.

RDF Rights has sold the DVD rights to BBC comedy series Double Take to Granada Video. The Bafta Award-winning series, from creator Alison Jackson and Tiger Aspect Productions, uses look-alikes to put celebrities in hilarious, compromising and unlikely situations.

RDF has secured a DVD deal with VCI for Princess Productions' Danger 50,000 Volts, starring Shaun of the Dead and Spaced star, Nick Frost.

RDF has also signed a deal with Firefly Entertainment to release a stand up comedy DVD featuring Phoenix Nights star Ted Robbins. The DVD will be produced by Multi Media Arts.

All of these DVDs will be released to hit the lucrative Christmas market.

Rachel Barke, Head of Consumer Products, said, 'By auctioning these ranges to a range of video distributors, we have secured the best possible deal on behalf of the rights owners.'

RDF Rights has also closed the first publishing deal for RDF Media. In a competitive pitch, publishing rights in RDF's own series Bomber Crew have been sold to Hodder and Stoughton. The book, written by James Taylor and Martin Davidson, will be published to tie in with the transmission of the series on Channel 4 in early 2005.
