Wife Swap scores top ratings in America

Surging from its lead-in, the time period premiere of ABC's Wife Swap finished in a virtual tie with NBC's veteran Law & Order in the 10 o'clock hour among Adults 18-49 … tied in share and within one-tenth of a rating point. Wife Swap ranked a strong #1 in the hour among Women 18-34, topping CSI: NY and L&O … among Adults 18-34 there was basically a 3-way tie for first place, with all three networks pulling an identical 13 share in the time slot. Wife Swap was the only show to build its audience from start to finish in the hour – CBS' CSI: NY declined in its second half-hour, while NBC's L&O remained flat. Compared to the same night last year, Wife Swap improved the time period for ABC by nearly 2 million viewers and by 44% among Adults 18-49. Despite the dramatically increased competition in the Wednesday time slot, Wife Swap was up over last week's Sunday sneak preview in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. Making these gains even more impressive is the fact that on that night Wife Swap enjoyed an enormous lead-in coming out of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
