RDFR secures rights to online phenomenon 'Simon’s Cat'

RDF Rights (RDFR), part of the RDF Media Group, is delighted to announce their appointment as the UK licensing agent for the online phenomenon and viral sensation, Simon’s Cat. They have been appointed by United Agents who have selected RDFR to seek licensees on their behalf.

Created by award-winning English animator Simon Tofield, Simon’s Cat is a genuine word-of-mouth phenomenon. The animated series follows the humorous adventures of Simon's Cat and his relationship with Simon's cartoon alter ego. The online animated series has totalled over 51 million views on YouTube to date, and one of the online films, entitled ‘Fly Guy’ was the fifth most viewed UK video on YouTube in 2009. In addition to this, the first Simon’s Cat book entered the UK Bookseller Top 50, Amazon Top 20 and hit Play.com’s number one spot for all books.

Simon’s Cat has also won several awards including Best Comedy at the British Animation Awards, YouTube’s ‘Blockbuster Award’ and Prix Animation at the Festival International des Très Courts.

RDFR, will be seeking licensees in a wide range of gifting categories. RDFR expects first product lines to launch at retail in Quarter 4 2010 to tie in with the launch of the second Simon’s Cat book.
